Y’all.

It’s been a year, hasn’t it?

Luckily, it’s October now which means, along with my birthday, it’s time for #Choctoberfest 2020! I think we can all agree 2020 needs more chocolate and, in the case of today’s recipe, more booze.

#Choctoberfest (now in its 6th year!) is an annual celebration of chocolate recipes, and I’ve teamed up again with some talented food bloggers to share dozens of milk, dark, and white chocolate dishes for this year’s virtual event.

We’ve also pooled our resources to bring you a giveaway you don’t want to miss! See the details below.

The Giveaway

One lucky winner will receive a KitchenAid mixer – or if you already have a mixer you can instead opt to receive a KitchenAid gift card to purchase your choice of attachments or other kitchen tools. To enter, simply follow the directions here: a Rafflecopter giveaway

The fine print: Open worldwide to entrants who are 18+ (except where prohibited). Winner will receive a KitchenAid Classic Series 4.5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer or the equivalent in a gift card. Giveaway ends on October 16 at 11:59 PM Eastern. This giveaway is not sponsored by KitchenAid, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, or any other third party sites. Void where prohibited. No purchase necessary. See terms & conditions for more information.

Participating Bloggers

Check out these blogs throughout the week for delicious chocolate recipes!

And now, on to the booze!

I figured I’d start #Choctoberfest off with a bang and bring you a super simple, super delicious chocolate cocktail from 1,001 Cocktails: A Cocktail for Every Occasion and Mood, something called a Chocolate Stinger. Two ingredients, one of them involving chocolate, what can go wrong?

Well.

It didn’t go wrong, per se. I just didn’t really like it. If you’re a fan of lots of mint in your chocolate, you might like this! Also, I suspect it may have been my own fault I didn’t like it because the recipe called for white creme de menthe, and I didn’t see that, so I just got regular.

(Yes, I made it in a martini glass. Yes, it’s not a martini. Leave me alone, OK?)

If you’re super duper into mint, you might like it.

Leave me a comment below to tell me if you tried this and liked it, or else let me know other drinks I can make with these two liqueurs.

Chocolate Stinger

Serves 1

From 1,001 Cocktails: A Cocktail for Every Occasion and Mood

Ingredients

  • 1 measure dark creme de cacao
  • 1 measure white creme de menthe
  • Ice

  1. Pour both liqueurs over ice in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Shake vigorously until well-frosted.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass (Or, you know, a martini glass.)

Make sure to check back on Wednesday & Friday for more chocolate goodness, and be sure you visit the other #Choctoberfest2020 bloggers!
