Sorry for the recent abandonment, you guys. It got to the point where I was thinking, “Holy crap. If I don’t post soon everyone’s going TO HATE ME.” (Or something less dramatic.) And then it became a thing, and then the more I thought about it, the more it freaked me out, and. . .you can see where this would all go downhill very quickly, yes?
Anyway, I will be back soon with actual food recipes. For now, though, I’ll tell you about the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo we went to yesterday.
I’ve heard that there were both “more than 50” and “more then 70” trucks there. I didn’t count them, so I don’t know, but there were SO many trucks and SO many people. Some of the lines were a little ridiculous (Like the ones for Chirba Chirba Dumpling and American Meltdown.) There were cupcakes and beer and almost every imaginable food that can be served out of a truck.
The cupcake place I linked to above, LeAne’s Sweet Traditions, is one that I’ve eaten from before. Dennis asked me what kind of cupcake he should get, and I told him the banana pudding cupcake, because it’s amazing.
Seems he didn’t believe me, and asked the guy in the truck what his favorite was. He said banana pudding. Still not satisfied, he asked the lady in the truck (presumably LeAne of the truck’s name fame), and she, too, said banana pudding.
I think we all know what the lesson here is.
We also had beers from Gizmo BrewWorks, a brewing company that bought out a brewery we used to go to occasionally. Apparently, when the original owners wanted to get out of the brewing business, some of the brewery’s regulars didn’t want to lose their hangout spot. . .so they bought it. They were serving a honey lager that has possibly changed the way I think about honey lagers. Amazing.
Miranda and Andrea were willing to brave the Chirba Chirba Dumpling line (Seriously. There were never fewer than, like, a hundred people in the line), but Dennis went for a giant chicken burrito, and I went for this truck I’d never heard of before, Liv a Little which, as it turns out, is an offshoot of Alivia’s Durham Bistro.
I had a 1/4 pound hot dog, and. . .I have to go back to the picture to get the name of the other thing I had. It was ridiculous. It was amazing. It was. . .
